Adequate storage space in a home is a must. Buyers typically have this on their shopping lists while looking at potential houses. You need to show buyers that your property has plenty of space to fit their needs. As you are de-cluttering your house for sale, move out anything you do not have use for.
Anything that you would normally store in your closets that you will not need has to go. All closets in the house should be cleaned and thinned out. Only keep what you will need for a short while and donate or put out of season items in alternative storage.
In bedrooms, hang clothes color coordinated and use decorative storage baskets for loose items. Also, make sure there is nothing on the floors. An organized closet looks more neat and spacious. Full and over crowded closets tell the buyer that you lack storage space. Buyers will open and look into all storage spaces – including cabinets. The same rule applies – clean and thin out.
In kitchens, color co-ordinate the dishes you are keeping and stack neatly. It would be a good idea to make sure the shelving in your cabinets is in good condition as well. If they are cracked or looking poorly, you can put on a decorative shelf liner as a quick fix.
If you need alternative storage for the items you are moving out, bins and/or pods are a great solution. The suppliers will bring the containers to your property and once filled they will come and remove to their storage facilities. There are numerous companies to look into for this service.
